(Flat Rock, NC- January 11, 2017)-The Blue Ridge Community College Concert Series will present its annual program featuring outstanding flute students from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts on Tuesday, January 24 at 7:30 P.M. in Thomas Auditorium. The program is titled "The Valkyries," and intends to celebrate and shed light on the power, beauty, and presence of the female mind, by combining the music, artwork, and wisdom of revered female figures of history and today. Works by Cecile Chaminade, Katherine Hoover, Claude Debussy, Mimi Stillman, and Jennifer Higdon will be featured. The accomplished performers are Dayna Hagstedt, Kirkland Moranos, Sarah Mitchener, and Theresa Rose; all are award-winning pupils of the eminent professor Dr. Tadeu Coelho.
Admission to the concert is $10, payable at the door; admission for all students is only $5. All concerts feature open (non-reserved) seating. Proceeds benefit the college's Personal Enrichment Program. Thomas Auditorium is located in the Sink Building on BRCC’s Henderson County campus.
