The Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) sanctions Blue Ridge Community College as an official SHRM college. BRCC offers SHRM approved courses that prepare HR professionals for SHRM certifications.

Professional in Human Resources Certification (PHR)
Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification (SPHR)
Experienced HR professional interested in earning PHR or SPHR certification take the BRCC 12-week program, offered in partnership with SHRM, that provides solid preparation for the certification examinations. The curriculum covers the 2009 HRCI Body of Knowledge and includes application exercises that develop specific competencies and decision-making skills.
The course teaches new knowledge and skills that will improve workplace effectiveness and the classroom format provides these added benefits.

Continuing Education Credits
Certified HR professionals are required to recertify their designation every three years.
As a Human Resource Certification Institute–approved provider, many of the courses offered through the Corporate Training Institute qualify for recertification credit.
Rather than college credit, participants earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for successful completion of each course.
