Tuition Refund Policy

The College follows the refund policies established by the North Carolina Community College System. Specific guidelines have been established in accordance with these policies.

A full (100%) tuition refund shall be made if the student officially withdraws prior to the start date of the class (i.e., if the start date of class as indicated on the student’s schedule is September 1, the student must withdraw from that class on or before August 31 to receive a full (100%) tuition refund).

A 75% tuition refund shall be made if the student withdraws on or before the census date of the class. The census date for a class is the 10% point of the class.

No tuition refund shall be made if the student withdraws from a class after the census date of the class. The census date for a class is the 10% point of the class.

Tuition refunds cannot be processed without a student’s signature.  The student must either sign a drop card with their advisor or log in to their WebAdvisor account and drop the class in order to fulfill this requirement.

The student fees, accident insurance premium, and some program specific fees (i.e., malpractice insurance fees, processing fees, etc.) are not refundable unless the student officially withdraws prior to the start of his/her classes, or a student’s class is cancelled.

Federal regulations require a refund calculation for all students receiving Title IV funds who officially withdraw from the semester on or before the 60% point in semester. Students earn a portion of the Title IV funds on a ratio of number of calendar days attended and the number of calendar days in the term. Unearned federal aid will be returned in the following order: Federal Direct Loan, Federal PLUS Loan, Pell Grant, and SEOG. NC monies will be returned according to state regulations. Institutional and outside scholarships will be fully applied to the student's account, unless otherwise restricted.

If there is a student account balance resulting from these adjustments, the student is responsible for payment.
