Henderson County/Transylvania County NCWorks provides short-term, pre-vocational training and counseling, through group workshops and individual counseling, to give individuals the essential personal skills to successfully enter the workforce, pursue further training, or change careers. Services are offered at no cost to unemployed individuals.

Job Search Overview
Design a productive job search. Learn to turn setbacks into victories, deal with negativity and stress by structuring positive approaches to job loss and job seeking success. Understand what employers want. Review tactics and techniques for finding jobs. Develop an action plan.
Myers Briggs Career Assessment
Learning about your strengths can help you understand what kinds of work you might enjoy. Prior to signing up for this workshop, request a test booklet and answer sheet from the Customer Service Assistant at the front desk of the Henderson County/Transylvania County NCWorks Center. Bring your completed assessment with you to this workshop and find out how your personality can help you shape your career direction.

Meet Our Staff
Mary is a Nationally Certified Career Counselor with a Master’s in Counseling from Oakland University. Mary works part-time with Henderson County NCWorks, helping customers identify their skills and talents, and whether to enroll in college or make a transition to a new career. She also helps write resumes.
Peggy has been a professional speaker since 1993, speaking to women’s audiences all over the US including the Toyota Women’s Conference, the PPAI Women’s Leadership Conference, the American Business Women’s Association, the International Association of Administrative Professionals, and many others. She is a member of the National Speakers Association, is an MPI Platinum Speaker and makers her home in Hendersonville, NC. She works one-on-one with NCWorks clients and leads the monthly workshop series on job seeking, interviewing, and networking skills.
Dave retired in July 2011 as the Vice President of Human Resources for Mestek, Inc. in Westfield, MA. He has a wealth of experience in business and the human resources functions. Growing up in upstate NY, he received his B.S. degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. Upon graduation, Dave served in the U.S. Army artillery in Korea. Later he went to night school and graduated with an M.B.A. from Pace University. Most of Dave’s experience has been in manufacturing and natural resources industries. On the professional level, Dave holds a Life Certification as a PHR (Professional in Human Resources), CBA (Certified Benefits Advisor/Mobil), PI (Predictive Index) Analyst, and is a MBTI (Myers-Briggs) Certified Professional. Dave and his wife Becky live in Hendersonville with their “animal menagerie” of two dogs and two cats. Dave children (2) and grandchildren (3) live in Colorado. Dave currently volunteers as a cashier at the Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Stores and works part time as a Career Counselor at the Henderson County NCWorks office.
